Priscilla Shih is an artist and graphic designer based in Seattle, Washington whose work blends thoughtful design with personal narrative.
Color is everything to me. It’s not just something I see, but everything I feel and hear. My work centers around the subtle yet powerful presence of color and its ability to evoke memory, emotion, and sensation. I use color as its own language—visible and deeply intuitive. Much of this stems from my experience with color synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon where words involuntarily trigger color in my mind. Letters and sounds become palettes that are intimate, internal, and ever-present. Shaped and informed by synesthetic experience, my practice centered around the reality and notion of color through various mediums. My work is a translation—a visualization of the invisible. I invite viewers to slow down and to not just see color, but feel it, question it, and notice how it shapes perception. Color is not neutral. It is emotional, political, and charged with meaning. Who assigns these meanings, and who gets to challenge them? Through my work, I reclaim the authority to define color on my own terms and to treat it not as a supplement, but as the subject itself.
